Missouri

Columbia

  • Twin Lakes. Has a lake just for dogs, and a lot of room to run around. lots of other dogs to play with, too. In the County of Booneville. Location: down Stadium, left on Forum (by Schnucks), right on chapel hill (go past suburban houses), Twin Lakes Park on the left

Defiance

  • Broemmelsiek Park. 2.5 acre off-leash area with pond. Location: 1795 Hwy DD (intersection of Swede & Wilson Rds). Directions: From Hwy 40/61 take exit for Hwy DD/Winghaven Blvd. Head south on DD about 5 miles to Swede Rd, turn right (west) onto Swede. Follow signs to off leash area. (Thank you Ronnie Duffy)

Florissant

  • Florissant Dog Park. Membership-based dog park in north St. Louis County. Resident and non-resident memberships available at town hall or at the J.F.K. Community Center. Location: Located in Duchesne Park, behind Manion Park, Graham Rd. at Manion Park Rd. Directions: Follow Interstate 270 and exit at Hanley Rd./Graham Rd. Exit toward Graham Rd. Go north on Graham Rd to Manion Park Rd. Turn west on Manion Park Rd and follow it to where it becomes Brower Lane. Continue to follow Brower Lane to the entrance to Duchesne Park. Grandview

  • Bark Park. Very nice, brand new completely fenced off leash dog park at Wayside Waifs Humane Society in Grandview, Missouri. Has separate areas for small dogs and large dogs, also has time out kennels for dogs who misbehave, has water, poop bags, benches, a shelter. IS not free, has an entrance fee. Location: On Martha Truman road between 71 hi-way and Holmes road. Directions: Take 71 south to Blue Ridge Blvd, on exit ramp turn onto martha Truman road immediately, go about 2 miles and Wayside Waifs human society will be on the left. Bark Park is in the back. Jackson

  • Off Leash Dog Park. Fenced fairly large park. Location: 27th & Broadway. (Thank you Brent Baker)

Jefferson City

  • North Jefferson City Recreation Area. Approximately 2 acres of fenced in grass with benches, water pump and dish, sandbox, and pipes for dogs to run through. You must register your dog with Jefferson City Parks, Recreation, and Forestry. Days are set aside for big dogs and others for small dogs, according to weight. Be cautious because dogs in Jefferson City are not as socialized as in other cities where dog parks have been around for a while. Location: Sandstone Drive. Directions: From Downtown Jefferson City: 54 East, take first exit after going over the bridge (airport exit), make a left on Cedar City Drive, make a left on Fourth Street, make a left on Sandstone Drive, parking lot on left. Kansas City

  • Loose Park. 5 to 6 acres of hills, ponds, and walkway. Most people meet there around 4 or 5 pm. Location: Near the Country Club Plaza, off of Wornall road. Directions: From Country Club Plaza, go South on Wornall (road between Fairmont and Raphael hotels) and Loose Park is on right hand side. (Thank you Sarah Diggs)
  • Penn Valley Dog Park. This 2.7 acre off-leash dog park is fully enclosed and double gated, fenced, with 2 picknic tables. Penn Valley Dog Park has been adopted by K-9 Club, Kansas City's only off-leash play club for dogs, through the Kansas City Parks & Recreation's Adopt-A-Park program. Come enjoy the park and find out how you can help out with twice-monthly cleanup and additional maintenance projects. Location: The park is just south of the Liberty Memorial between 29th & 31st Streets and Wyandotte. Directions: Parking is available at the Just Off-Broadway Theater at 31st and Broadway. Kirkwood

  • Kirkwood Dog Park Association.  501c3 established to build awareness and raise funds for a dog park. Visit us at the Kirkwood Farmers market every Saturday between 8am and 2pm to sign our petition and visit our web site to learn about up coming events.

Lee's Summit

  • James A. Reed memorial Wildlife Area.  There are 12 lakes, site is used for dog training as well as tracking and field trials. 2,456 acres of hunting, sporting and dog training area. Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Location: Located south of Hwy 50 on Ranson Road. Directions: Located south of Hwy 50 on Ranson Road, Missouri residents only may obtain the required hunting license and dog training license at the Park Office and they will give directions to specific areas.   • Off-Lead Dog Training Area. You must call ahead to use this dog training area. Lake Jacomo, Fleming Park.  Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Location: Located east of I-470 on Woods Chapel Road. Directions: Ask at the ranger station for directions to the off-leash area. (Thank you Pamela D. Snyder)

Maplewood

  • Maplewood Dog Park. Dog park in mid- St. Louis County. Dog park admission open to Maplewood and Shrewsbury residents by membership only; administered by the city of Maplewood. Location: Located in Kellog Park on West Point Dr. at Rannells. (Thank you Carol Panter)

Maryland Heights

  • Maryland Heights dog park. Dog park scheduled to open June 2006. Plan is for 2 1/2 acres, including a separate area for smaller and less able dogs. City hopes to open the facility by June 2006. St. Charles

  • Ed Boles Memorial Park. The lower end of the park was fenced off and divided into a small dog and large dog area. The large dog area had a covered pavilion. Bathrooms and water access outside of the fenced area. Location: N. Main Street. Directions: From Highway 370, take the 3rd street exit, go south and turn left onto Tecumseh Street, Left onto N. Main Street, follow it till you come to the park on your right. Dog park area is all the way at the end of the regular park. (Thank you Carol Boczarski)

St. Louis

  • Lister Dog Park. Lister Dog Park (Central West End). This dog park is for residents a people who work in the Central West End of St. Louis, only. Please email CWEDogPark@juno.com for more information & membership rules. Location: Near Taylor & Olive. (Thank you Carol Panter)
  • Shaw Neighborhood Dog Park. Neighborhood, membership-based dog park in the south city area of St. Louis. Membership is available to residents and non-residents; application should be made to the Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association (see website).  Location: NW corner of Cleveland and Thurman avenues. Directions: Traveling on I-64 EAST, take exit 34C towards Hampton Ave South. Go about a quarter mile. Continue on Hampton Avenue. Turn left to take I-44 EAST. Get off at exit 287B towards Vandeventer. Turn right on Klemm ST. Turn left on CLEVELAND AVE. The Shaw Dog Park is located on the northwest corner of Thurman and Cleveland Avenues.   • Southwest City Dog Park. We are working towards establishing a dog park in Willmore Park, located at Hampton and Jamieson Avenues. The dog park will be 50,000 square feet, fenced, with a double entry gate and a water hydrant. (Thank you Missy Krauss)
  • University City Dog Play Area. open to the public ... annual fees are $15 for U. City residents and $100 for non-residents. Location: Corner of Vernon and Pennsylvania Avenues. Directions: Olive east to Pennsylvania then south on Pennsylvania to Vernon ... or Delmar east to Midland then north on Midland to Vernon then east to Pennsylvania. (Thank you Sandy Schenck)

Wentzville

  • Wentzille Dog Off-Leash Area. 2-acre, fence-enclosed dog play area, scheduled to open in late summer 2003. Location: Quail Ridge Park, near the intersection of I-40 and I-70. Directions: From I-70: Exit onto Hwy. 40/61 South: At the Callahan Road Signal (first traffic light) turn right onto Callahan Road and make another immediate right hand turn onto the Quail Ridge Parkway. Follow the Quail Ridge Parkway 3/4 mile past St. Luke’s Urgent Care Center to the park entrance. OR - From Hwy.40/61 going North: At the Callahan Road Signal (last traffic light before I-70) turn left onto Callahan Road and make an immediate right hand turn onto Quail Ridge Parkway. Dog Fun Etiquette
  1. Make sure to bring something (like a pooper scooper or bags) to pick up the mess your dog(s) make. Always clean up after your dog.
  2. Bring some water for your dog and a leash (just in case)
  3. Don't bring your dog if it is aggressive
  4. Don't let your pet wander too far. Always keep an eye on them.
  5. If the park is near a residential area, minimize the barking.
